Today marks the 4th anniversary of the STPS Canoe Awakening Journey. Over the winter of 2021-2022, the STPS obtained a 21’ft skipper canoe. In a naming contest, St’at’imc community member Lyle Leo named the canoe, “Tselpu’lm’ecw”, which translates to Daybreak. He then donated the winning prize to the Xaxli’p youth group, who held the 1st canoe journey mid-summer of 2022. Since that first year, “Tselpu’lm’ecw” has been launched a total of 4 times.
